Early Childhood

Course Description

Early Childhood Education is a two year program for juniors and seniors interested in working with young children. This includes several child related professions including, day care, preschool and/or elementary education, social work, psychology, etc. 

What Students Will Learn

In order to prepare students for entry-level employment in the Early Childhood Education field, students will take the following courses during these two years in the program: Foundations of Education in Early Childhood Education, Infant and Toddler Education, Curriculum and Instruction and Health, Safety and Nutrition. Students will also spend time in an elementary classroom where they will gain experience in planning activities, working with students, promoting positive relationships with teachers, demonstrating professionalism, etc. 

Possible Certifications

Students will receive a completers certificate. 

Students will also receive training in the following: CPR, First Aid, Communicable disease and child abuse. 

Students can receive four free credit hours through Eastern Gateway College if they maintain an A/B average over the course of this two year program.
