Course Description
Automotive Technology is a two year course that offers a variety of shop exercises on current concepts in the automotive shop and industry. Student shop instruction will utilize our state of the art equipment and technology offered by the industry. Various teaching techniques, equipment and materials will be employed to provoke student interest and enhance student learning. Numerous shop methods will be utilized in demonstrations and student assignments. Safety instruction will be given and safe practices will be stressed in all shop work. Students will exercise critical thinking in completing assignments and interpreting their results. Students will have the opportunity to earn nationally recognised ASE certifications.
What Students Will Learn
During the two year course students will be given the opportunity to gain knowledge in automobile maintenance and light repair, suspension and steering, auto and truck braking systems and repair, automotive heating and air conditioning and engine electrical systems.
Possible Certifications
Students with good attendance and the will to learn will have the opportunity to gain ASE certifications in Suspension and Steering, Brakes, Engine Performance, Heating and Air Conditioning and Maintenance and Light Repair. These certifications will greatly enhance their opportunity to gain employment in the automotive industry and open up other career opportunities in management positions.
